The Drawbridge partners have all worked in large agencies in both London and Bristol. During this time we have come to the conclusion that most design companies don't give their clients what they need.

All too often, the emphasis is skewed towards graphic execution rather than to its function or what's trying to be said.

Sure, we can crank out a logo or lash a brochure together as well as the next company, but in our view, design should be about so much more.

Our ethos, if you will forgive us the slightly pretentious terminology, is about creating effective communication. We try and make recommendations to suit what our clients need to say. And if they are not clear on this themselves, we work with them to define and clarify this message.

Only then do we get out our markers and layout pads and start to scratch our heads. Which brings us on to our other obsession - thinking. To us, this initial thought process is the most crucial - and let's face it, enjoyable - phase in the project's progress.

Truly effective and creative work stems, without exception, from great ideas based on a lot of head work.
